Ok, so I have not managed to get the Apple laptop yet. I'm still working on it, but I've got other things on my mind (soon-to-be-delivered baby, visiting relatives, and the like), and it's fallen to the back burner.
On a "new experience" note, I'm taking a "try SCUBA" class this Thursday. My brother-in-law (Todd), my younger brother (Colin), and friend (Dan), are all certified divers, and I'm really looking forward to it. It's only a 2-3 hour class, but it'll be a great introduction!
On the home improvement front, the grass seed in the yard is now germinating and beautiful light-green blades are pushing skyward. My patience is being tested as I wait for the new grass... but it's good for me to be reeminded that Mother Nature works at her own pace. Sure, I could shovel money toward a landscaper and have sod put down, but I believe seeding is the right way to go in our yard. It'll be interesting to see how things look come Fall.
And speaking of patience (or lack thereof) I'm calling Comcast today to order Broadband.
So I decided to move around the furniture in the guest room the other night, and my wife just walked past the room, paused to look in, and looked up at me as if to say, "Um, why?"
Suffice to say that I just thought moving the furniture around would give us some more room to to move around in there. Does it really matter? No, not since the waterbed has been drained (since the D-O-G chewed through the cords to the heater controls) and the room has turned into a staging area for baby-related stuff. Still, I was determined.
It VERY quickly became apparent, (despite my professional-level use of a tape measure) that things were not going to turn out as I had hoped. But now I had the waterbed all askew, and I was, as I said, "determined." I'm pretty sure my wife, had she decided to vocalize her thoughts, would have described it as, "a rediculous waste of time." She did, however, say something to the effect of, "since you have the bed mostly dismantled, why not just take the whole thing apart and be done with it?"
I continued to be determined.
Ultimately, it was a totally rediculous waste of time, and I dismantled the bed. So, now the guest room is more of a storage room on the main level of the house, visibly bare, furniture-wise, and crying out for a couple twin beds or something. Wouldn't that be nice?
I'll ask Heidi how she wants to arrange things... even if I have a tape measure with me.

We spent a large amount of time yesterday evening in the toy department of Target, looking at all the cool stuff for babies. I'm actually pretty jealous of the little unborn Kelly at this point, knowing how many hours of enjoyment that could be garnered from the toys we were looking at. Certainly it will be fun buying stuff and watching the little one grow.
It's truly very hard to contain my excitement at this point... As each day passes, I get more nervous and anxious about the delivery and how our lives will change. Even the dog is eagerly (and somewhat jealously) looking over all the new stuff in the house, and probably wondering what on earth could possibly require all this special equipment. Still we are counting down the days. It's only about 38 days until the "due date" although the doctor says the baby is welcome to visit the extra-utero world anytime after 36 weeks -- that's 10 days from now.
So, I've decided to get the Apple. Now comes the difficult part...

I thought this story (found at http://www.boston.com) was great. Personally, I think the guy has a good idea... but at least he did not use a drive-through wash.
Washing horses at car wash deemed illegal

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. -- Washing his horses at a car wash didn't seem like a bad idea to Jess Yager until it turned out to be illegal.
Yager took his four horses to the car wash Monday afternoon to clean them, saying it's hard to clip and trim horses when their hair is caked with mud.
But animal control officer John Pettit was ready to ticket Yager. Pettit told Yager it was against the law to wash his animals at the car wash and let him off with a warning.
Yager said that's news to him since he's been doing it for years. He said the horses love it and prefer the hot water of the car wash over the cold hose at home.
Yager took his animals home, after only two got the soapy treatment.
