I'm in the school library today, working to revamp my prospectus to suit my new project direction. This is a time-consuming process but one that will hopefully get me back on track quickly. More on that in a separate post.
While I am taking a momentary break, it's nice to know that the library here allows students to bring food into the library so long as it does not get spilled or make a mess. Nobody is allowed to eat or drink near the computers. I like being able to bring a snack in while I am studying, but there is a young lady sitting about 20 feet from me who also appears to like this policy. Unfortunately, her appreciation for this policy has brought her to believe that potato chips are a good "library food." I don't agree.
From where I sit, I can see more that 10 people studying, each of them looks up at her as she munches and crunches her way through her bag of Sour Cream and Onion chips. She's just oblivious to the nonverbal commentary. SOme people have tried to move to new locations, reluctantly returning beause the library study rooms are all full. Many of us are sitting in open areas of the library, working diligently on one project or another.
Still, I wonder why, in an era where libraries are still considered to be "quiet" places in a world of chaotic noise, this young lady thinks her chips to be a good snack choice. If only I could hear her thoughts over the crunch crunch CRUNCHING.
Hmmm. Back to my research.
