Moving on up

The business group where I work at Fair Isaac is moving from Arden Hills to our Minneapolis office in the AT&T building in the heart of downtown Minneapolis. It's been a couple years since I worked downtown on a regular basis and I'm rather looking forward to it. Besides, the view of the skyline from inside a glass building is wonderful.

Of course, I'll need to figure out how to handle Monday classes at Bethel, which will jump from a 5 minute drive (max) to a much longer commute to the campus in Arden Hills. I'm not worried, though, partly because the mass transit options in the city are pretty good. I'll just need to figure it out soon!

The layout of the offices and cubicles in the downtown office is different from most other places where I have worked, offering a more open plan that should allow us to work more closely with our teammates and our clients. But more importantly, we'll have better access to our business partners, allowing us to provide even greater service than before.

Minneapolis is a fun city in which to work, what with all the opportunities for food, shopping and such. Even in winter, the Skyways offer protection from Mother Nature and it's possible to follow the Skyways all over the city. Again, lots to do, lots of fun, and easy mass transit. The Skyways will certainly see a lot of use from me as I try to do my daily walk even in the dead of winter.

Of course, the car will soon start to see little use, except for school and evening runs to this place or that. We normally take the van when we go anywhere with the kids, so the Stratus will sit comfortably in the garage for most of the winter... whenever I get around to making room for it inside!

So, starting on the 19th of December, I'll be working downtown again. I'm very much looking forward to it.
