For the last several days, I've been unable to get to sleep at a reasonable hour. Maybe it's the horse-pill vitamins, perhaps the chinese food, or maybe just lots on my mind. So, I grabbed the leptop, flipped on the new wireless connection, and am typing, comfortably, in the Lay-Z-Boy in the living room.
So, the new Wireless G router is great. I can be anywhere in the house, surfing the web, reading my e-mail, or downloading crady videos from StupidVideos.com. I cannot wait to see how far into the yard I Can go and still have a signal... in case I need to get lawn maintenance tips while I'm out in the yard, of course.
Quick update: Caroline is starting to talk a bit, and is making a tremendous effort to make herself understood more and more each day. I'm glad to see that the parenting magazines still tout the benefits of starting with sign language first (we did) and then moving into words... Caroline seems to be doing pretty well, but I don't have an objective measurement, only the Proud Dad meter, which is currently pegged on 10 out of a possible 10.
Heidi, now in the 19th week of her second pregnancy, is feeling pretty good. After a few bouts with queasyness and nausia, she seems tp be happily in the 2nd trimester. We go in for a 20 week ultrasound in a week or so. I'm anqious to see the new baby's progress, although I've not made up my mind on whether I want to know the sex of the child before it's born. I guess I'll ahve to mull that one over a bit more.
The mostly uneventful winter continues, almost as if we were not living in Minnesota. The amount of snow on the ground actually makes it possible for me to see brown/green grass, something I'd rather not see until April or so. THe front yard will likely get overseeded and fertilized in the spring, but a full-scale reseeding is in my mind for 2006. The backyard, now 1/3 roto-tilled and awaiting leveling and a couple inches of fresh black dirt, will be quite a bit of work this year, as we try to get the yard back in good condition. I'd like to get the back yard landscaping done this year, including planting about 10 more rosebushes along the back fence. We'll see.
I'm also mulling over the idea of getting a new digital camera, but I don't know about that either. The Video camera is excellent, and gets a fair amount of use, and the Canon Rebel 35mm SLR still gets a lot of use (as noted by the 11 rolls of film we just had developed), but a Nikon or Canon digital SLR would be great, and would ultimately save a lot of developing costs... maybe.
So, enveloped in my indecision, I'm headed off to bed.
